- Exploring Simple Concepts with the under 2's - Shadow Play' Shadow play for babies is a fantastic sensory experience that promotes visual tracking, focus, and cognitive development. This segment of the toolkit gives you some simple ideas for your youngest children.
Light and Shadows themed section including:
Planning grids to help you choose appropriate activities and assess the children's learning.
Activities:
1. Shadow Matching. Encourage children to use their creative and critical thinking skills to match the objects to their shadow.
2. Light and Shadow Cameras. Make this fun craft together and encourage children to investigate light, colour and shadows. (With a printable template.)
3. Flour Shadows. Practice fine motor and critical thinking skills by making special shadows out of flour.
4. Shadow Puppet Theatre. Explore shadow puppets as a way to retell rhymes and stories. Comes with full instructions and printable templates for both the theatre and puppets.
