Be Inspired

This year's 2026 calendar has a special playdough recipe or activity each month and 257 special days, celebrations or festivals to learn about or celebrate.

Did you know that there is a special day for almost everything!? With 257 dates in this year's calendar there is bound to be something to appeal to everyone. There are fun dates like 'World Baking Day', silly dates like 'Star Wars Day,' animal and nature themed days like 'World Turtle Day,' awareness raising dates like 'World Environment Day,' and sporting dates like Wimbledon as well as special religious festival dates to help you plan diversity activities.

As well as the 2026 calendar there is also a special childminding planner to help keep you organised. 

Get Organised:

Included with the planner are simple monthly planning sheets to help you keep on top of things without getting bogged down. There is space to plan activities along with a idea from the Childminding Best Practice Club each month to help inspire you. There is also an 'Action Plan' section so that you can record any training or CPD you wish to do. (This is something that is helpful to be able to show your Ofsted Inspector if you get inspected.) 

For the really disorganised there is a box with monthly childminding tasks such as checking your smoke alarms that you can check and do.

Maintain a Strong Safeguarding Culture:

It is important to establish a strong safeguarding culture in your setting. These monthly tasks help you to do that. There is a range of either short tasks to complete or a question to research and answer. Doing these monthly tasks will help you keep safeguarding at the forefront of your mind and are good evidence of your commitment to maintaining your safeguarding knowledge and culture. (There are answers to the questions and links to further information in the back of the pack.)

Printable planning sheets to help with your long, medium and short term planning:

• A year at a glance sheet to record boring but essential things like when your Ofsted fee is due. If you are like me these reminders can get lost in a diary but having them on a sheet pinned to the fridge makes them harder to skim over and forget.
• A special 'Birthday's sheet to print and fill in for exactly the same reason as above!
• Quarterly Plans at a Glance sheets that you can add a little more detail to, such as any trips you have planned, topics you want to cover or holidays you are taking.
• Week at a Glance for people who like to break things down even further.
• Menu Planner to keep meal times organised.
• Enquiries Record/Waiting List. This will help you remember who enquired about which space first so that you can use it as a waiting list of you like.
• Simple monthly income and expenditure sheets to help keep your accounts organised.
