Product details

This is a very special Childminding Toolkit with everything you need for a month's worth of inspiration, support and resources. This toolkit contains:

Your Learning Section:

  • A self-evaluation question based on the new 'Inclusion', Early Years Inspection Toolkit area of evaluation. Includes additional information and things to think about.
  • A CPD module 'A Look at Recent ‘Next Steps’ from Ofsted Inspections.' A look at the next steps given to thirty childminders in their Ofsted Inspection report. It can be useful to look at the ‘next steps’ (what used to called recommendations,) that other childminders have received as part of their inspection feedback. This can give you an idea of the sorts of things that Ofsted are focussing on and can also help give you ideas of things you may want to look at more closely yourself.

Quick and easy learning segments covering:

  • Inspection preparation: what would you do if your inspector asks you?
  • Safeguarding - What does the term ACE's refer to?
  • SEND - Low and High Incidence SEN

Curriculum and learning activity ideas and resources:

  • Planning ideas covering all areas of learning.
  • Why the Sun and the Moon Live in the Sky - A story and a craft based on this Traditional Nigerian Tale.
  • Exploring simple concepts with under 2's - Circles

Sunflowers topic section including:

Planning grids to help you choose appropriate activities and assess the children's learning.

Activities:

  1. 'Yellow Treasure Basket' - a simple activity for very young children.
  2. 'Ten Sunflowers Seeds themed sensory play.' Explore counting, scooping and pouring with this sensory based activity.
  3. 'Sunflowers Shapes Collage.' Combine art, maths and fine motor skills with this fun collage activity. With printable resources.
  4. 'Giant Sunflower Group Art Project'. This project encourages children to express their own creativity to produce their own special part of a beautiful whole. (With templates.)
  5. 'Jill and the Giant Sunflowers' A specially written and illustrated story that gives a more modern twist to the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. The story has been specially written to help introduce children to different things such as, the lifecycle of a sunflower, telling the time, heights (obviously!), counting.

It is not serious though - that would be boring! We all learn better when having fun so this story has lots of silly characters, fun phrases for children to copy and lots of things getting squashed which children will find hilarious (with plenty of 'asides' in italics to keep the adults giggling too!

The story comes with additional activites such as colouring in sheets and images to cut out and order to retell the story.

All activities come with full instructions, including 'What I Want Children to Learn,' and 'I Can' statements' to help you plan and assess children's learning.
